We are now less than two weeks away from our next adventure, our first cruise on Celebrity Cruise Lines, which also happens to be a 14-day jaunt on Infinity that features two days of cruising through scenic areas in the Antarctic Peninsula. Yes, we could have spent three or four times as much money for the privilege of listening to boring “scientists” ramble on about our threatened world, followed by scary moments gingerly stepping into heaving zodiacs, then long journeys on those zodiacs getting absolutely soaked rushing through frigid waters to undefined shorelines, and finally interminable times ashore stumbling around on slippery rocks, penguin doo-doo, and various types of ice and snow. But we decided to try this cruise-by method first and will also see some interesting ports in Argentina and Uruguay, not to mention the Falkland Islands.
Our biggest fears at this time are the possible bad sea conditions crossing the Drake Passage and the escalating crime and infrastructure problems in Buenos Aires.
